Default Flaming river

Hi,

Still trying to make my steering a little easier for a couple of hundred dollars, I am looking at the Flaming River quick steer box.

Does anyone here has a before/after experience with manual steering?

Does a quick ratio make it easier to turn?

FYI, my steering is really precise, I just want to make it easier to use.

Thanks!

A quick ratio actually increases effort. Think about it, nothing is free. For the same movement of the steering wheel, you get more movement of the wheels. That means it must take more energy.

If you have fabrication skills and can wait a bit I am going to be working on my home brew power rack and pinion install. When I get it done I plan on making a webpage showing what I did (or will do). The first installment will be mounting the rack and adapting it to the column and spindles (about 2 weeks or so to get on the web. I hope). The second installment I will drop the engine in to see about header clearance (About a month or so I hope to get on the web. 2 months if I don't get it done before our planned vacation) I figure I will have about $250 into it not counting having some new hoses made up. The way I will be doing it will be based on a webpage that has since disappeared. The setup is similar to how the steeroids system works. I for sure will have way less than $500 all totaled. Right now I have a $43 salvage rack, and $180 for steering shaft u-joints and steel for the brackets.
