Default license plate light placement in a 66?

It's been about 3 years since I took the license plate light off my car, and now I can't remember how to get it back on. There's two holes above in the bumper, but can't seem to find a way it makes sense to fit. Anyone able to tell me how to do it? I have a 66 coupe. I was thinking about not bothering with it, but I don't know if that's legal. Thanks!

Assuming your talking about the front plate, there should be two holes in the lower valance. You can use nylon nuts or threaded screws and nuts.

There was never a light on the front plate.

The light goes inside the rear bumper. It's best to install the light with the bumper off the car.

It's probably illegal in all 50 states to not have that light. How many times have you seen someone pulled over on Cops because that light wasn't working? So, you wanna be on TV?

why would anyone have a light on the front plate? Do cars come with a front light, i don't remember seeing one but i could be wrong?

you have to maneuver the assembly up in the bumper by finding the right angle between the lower rear valence and the bumper so that the whole thing slips in behind the bumper. the light faces straight down towards the ground and the two feet rest on top of the inside of the bumper, then you just screw the assembly in place through the two holes in the bumper

Well, even I make a mistake once in a while, I was talking about mounting the plate itself, not a light. There are light brakets out there, but don't think it's necessary.

Ya you must be talking about the rear bumper. There are 2 holes and it's pretty much mounts upside down with the light reflecting on the plate itself. And yes you have to make sure that light is working or you will get pulled over for sure.

I knew if was the front plate he was talking about. I was just thinking he was wondering how the plate physically mounted. It was the next day that I realized he was trying to mount a light; which isn't needed.
