Default need help with my D/C gauge

Real quick, '66 coupe, 302 from a '68, 3spd manual. Not sure what the D/C gauge in my cluster is telling me but its definitely trying to tell me something. The car sat for a couple months in the summer and with the weather getting cooler I've parked my jeep in favor of the stang. Last week i drove it for the first time, just one day, the needle kept jumping far right when i would give it gas. This was prolly the first time ive seen it move in years. The following morning it wouldnt start. The solenoid would just chatter so I got a new solenoid, no luck. The battery was the culprit so I got a new one of those and yesterday SUCCESS!!! This morning the needle was jumping right when i would give it gas. Can someone tell me what this gauge is for, what it means and what is going on when it goes either to the C side of the D side? What do i need to fix or replace to get things right again? The guy at the battery shop suggested the voltage regulator might be going out. Any thoughts? Also, ive added a lot of electronics compared to what the car originally had. Ive added power windows, a cd player, an amp and 6 speakers, as well as an electric fan. This is all hooked to the starter solenoid, is this safe or is there a better setup?
thanks again

The D/C gauge stands for charge and dis charge, it's your amp gauge saying if its charging or not charging your battery.

I would also suspect the regulator. Sounds like it's starting to stick. Running things off the sol isn't a problem but, if you don't like all the wires coming off of it, consider running one bigger wire (cable) off of it to a "power strip" that supplies everything.
