Default Rear axle question?

I had a leak in the bottom of the axle houing cover so I had to pull it and clean it up and install a gasket that was not there and fresh 75w140 syhthetic oil, the question is I noticed the ring gear had a 373 cast on it, was wondering if it still stock rear with 327 gearing or does the 373 mean it was replaced with better gearing?

I have never seen a ring gear stamped with a gear ratio, simply because the ring gear having that number of teeth could also be used with a different pinion gear, thus giving a different ratio.

To be certain, check the vehicle ID on the driver side door jam. Under "axle" copy the code and search it's meaning.

Thank you, I did, was wondering what the 373 stood for, forgot to count the gears while it was open, the door tag says 327 for gears.
