The hell do you do it?
Pretty good snow storm going on right now. Had to drive home in it from work, Only live about 1 1/2 miles away. I made it all of an 1/8th of a mile in 45 minutes
. I got stuck going down hill...
Have about 100 lbs in the trunk. Do snow tires really help on a mustang or am I wasting my time and buy a beater for the winter?

i drove my cobra one year and had a set of dunlop winter sport m2s (since been replaced by M3s) I never had any weight in my trunk and a lot of time was passing traffic w/ them. However b/c they were 245 wide on a 17" GT rim, they werent the best in deep snow, never got stuck tho! Downside was after the wheels, tires and mounting/balancing it was almost a grand... But if you dont need to run 17" wheels u should be able to get away with a cheaper solution... its def. doable tho.
i drove one of my previous stangs (88) for a full winter, no weight in the back but i had studded ice grips on good winter tires (don't remember the brand). it got the job done, went to work and back (40miles) everyday. i live in one of the worst places to be in the winter, lots of ice and tons of snow. only got stuck a couple times, lots of sliding around but nothing too crazy, no accidents but a couple of near misses. so it's doable but you have to be very carefull and take it easy. i will say this though, NEVER AGAIN! i have a ZX3 for winter now and i love it, i can actually drive as fast as i want and not worry about anything, no more getting stuck and no more fishtails. everybody says fwd is wrong wheel drive, well having driven rwd, awd, 4x4 and fwd in this crappy weather i have to say, fwd is the right wheel drive for the job.

Pricey though. You can get a set of decent 16" snow tires on steel rims (or even sixxer rims from the bone yard) for much less than I paid for the 17s.
