I do trap in 3rd but Im at 6400+ rpm.
The proper way to powershift is to hit the clutch so your foot is going at an angle and slips off just past the disengagement point.
However with the spongy hydraulic clutch in the S197 the best I have been able to do is kick it with the ball of my foot like sparring in karate. Its not quite as fast.
Throttle flat on the floor.
1-2 preload shifter with just my four fingers wrapped around the shifterand holding it against the left console rail. No thumb.
6750 rpm. Kick clutch when the clutch disengeges the shifter "pops" out of first and into second with a ever so slight delay.
2-3 preload shifter with just the V of the lower palm from the left rear corner. No Fingers. 6625 rpm. Kick Clutch. Shifter pops out of 2nd when the clutch disengages and into third with a slightly longer delay.
When Im on my game I get a 50 rpm blip during shift on the 1-2 and a 75 rpm blip on 3-4.
When Im not on my game 75 rpm and 100-125 rpm.
As stated earlier I did trap 104-107 mphdepending on the conditions but since adding an aluminum driveshaft its about 2 mph faster.
The actual finish line Im going about 1.5 mph faster than the average for the last 66' (Trap).
So that puts me at 6400-6700 rpm in 3rd.
Best run before the driveshaft is a 12.95 @ 106.6 at -71' DA. Best Run since isa 12.96@ 107.7 mph at +1500' DA.
Its in reality about 2/10 and 2 mph faster with the driveshaft under the sameconditions.
PS I have roughly 200 passes on the car run this way.

GeneK are you on the stock clutch still?
GeneK are you on the stock clutch still?
Might be because Im still on stock Pirellis. I have a plan to make life easier on my clutch.
A set of 410A's are 3' from where I sit. We will see if the Pirellis can be made to work with them.
I know their a couple of guys on another forum that cut 1.79's on 4.10's and Pirellis but I suspect they are pretty good drivers.
Moose - you need to hit 4th because you have 4.10's..
To the OP - I don't see one listed in your sig, you might want to think about replacing your stock POS shifter for something a little nicer, like an MGW..

I hate the 2005-2006 shifter because while its very smooth you cant feel the gear change.
The 2007+ Shifter is notchy but positive. I feel it when it goes in so if I do miss it the rpm never gets out of control.
That said a little shorter throw would be nice. Not to much you still need plenty of leverage to "rip" a shift.
