Lightbulb How many of you run an aftermarket clutch with a stock flywheel?

I am currently debating on using a stock flywheel I ordered
from newtakeoff.com or using the light weight flywheel
that came with my clutch kit. My clutch is an Exedy Mach 400

This is my daily driver, I do race it too.

I am wondering how safe the stock flywheel is with an aftermarket clutch.
I have talked to people and some say it is fine while others say what the
flywheel companies and some magazines say... that the stockers are not meant to work with aftermarket clutches and can shatter.

So let's here from those who do use the stock flywheel with an
aftermarket clutch. How long have you had it in? What kind of clutch do you use with it? Do you daily drive your car? Do you race your car?

The stock flywheel from newtakeoff was only 100 bucks shipped.
The stock flywheel from ford was over 700 bucks! What gives there?

Hey smoke, what did you come up with on your flywheel? I too was thinking of getting a flywheel from new take off. I already had my flywheel turned once and have about 8,000 miles on clutch and turned flywheel. As you know from previous thread. lol My slave failed, and not sure if I should replace everything again, or just have the the new slave installed professionally. I am going to invest in a new clutch line Ford Racing: #M-7512-A. thanks for any input.

I ended up going with an Exedy Clutch and used their flywheel.
Did the JUST the slave fail or did your clutch and flywheel look bad too?
If you JUST got a new clutch and flywheel and only the slave failed I see no need
to replace everything.

Best thing to do is talk to a mechanic you trust if you don't know what you're dealing with.

I run the stock flywheel with a spec II. I just had it turned when I installed the clutch. The machine shop barely had to turn it to get it flat. It's got about 4,000 miles on it since I put the spec in. I don't daily drive the car, but I do race. No problems and grabs like glue.
