I don't know why you guys are so hard on the IRS. Granted, I'm not a big fan myself, but it does allow for better weight transfer, and they will usually 60 ft a little better than a solid axel on street tires.

That's my only dis with the Goat and I don't mind it too bad in the Vettes because they're track cars more than drag cars. I hate the idea of wheelhop, though and it sucks up more power. And it crimps performance. They were talking about putting it in the new Camaro, and I pray to God that they don't.

You are no longer allowed to dispense GM knowledge.[sm=smiley36.gif]

The air box is located in the very front. You can put a different lid on it that allows the air to flow better, gives about 10 hp at the wheels (dyno proven).

As for LS1 F-Body vs LS1 Vette it's pretty much a drivers race. The Vette has a slightly better flowing exhaust but also has a power gulping IRS.

I have raced several stock Vette's in my Camaro SS and the only one that pulled on me had a nice Z06 405HP emblem on the side.
Did the Vette's 300 lb weight advantage suddenly become unimportant?[sm=smiley5.gif] The Vette should have about a .3 advantage in the 1/4, all else being equal.

The '04 GTO's wheel hopped pretty bad. Mine has never done it. (And I torch them all the time)

The only problem with them is they can't hold a huge amount of power. And to be honest, I've never heard of anyone breaking the GTO rear end, or the Vettes for that matter with out huge amounts of power.

WS6 = SS = Z28....how many times does this have to be played out
The vette with the ls1 would pull out the win because of it's weight, and aerodynamics I would think, given equal drivers.

Agree on what he said vette 13.0 110 T/A 13.4@104

Some people just cannot get over the fact that horsepower ratings are are often inaccurate. It just blows their minds.
A Vette will only trap 110 if it's a 6-speed, in which case it can probably do better than 13.0; 6-speed F-bodies, which are considerably heavier, can do that. 13.4 @ 104 sounds about right for an automatic LS1 F-body, my car went 13.52 @ 104 stock (105 on other runs with less traction) and my g/f's first Z28 (also an auto with 2.73's) ran 13.36 @ 105.

drivers race. At E-Town, stock Trans Am's and Corvettes are all high 12, low 13 sec cars. Advantage to the Vette, but the Trans Am's have the same engine/Tranny as Vette.
