Stupid SS

No GRN N GRY I was replying to the TommyV8 saying that they are about equal now.
You where correct in saying that they didnt have a chance stock vs stock. Ofcourse on the street and track you never know, but with all things being equal, a mustang GT will lose to an F-body, if we are talking about stock vehicles.

My car (auto, 2.73 gears) ran a best of 13.52 when stock. That was in pretty good weather. A well-driven manual 05 GT with nothing more than sticky tires should be able to do that. Now if I had a 3.42-geared 6-speed, it would be a different story.
Also, my g/f ran 13.36 in a stock auto Z28, 2.73 gears. It just depends on which stock LS1 you run into.

As we where stating, all things being equal. That means, equally talented drivers, trans, mods or stock, tires, etc. All things equal no GT can hang with an LS1. There are those, **** happens times, but the general rule applies.
Seriously, I do it all the time.
I get alot of LS1 F-bodies asking me to race. The first thing that I ask is what they have done. If all the guy has is a K&N and a pair of flows, such as many have, I will take him. But I tell him ,that if he's modded beyond that, he will be able to beat me.
So far, I havn't been proven wrong, win or lose.

The funny thing about the LS1 motors is regardless of what GM says, the engines in the Vette, Camaro, Pontiacs all DYNO within 10 hp of eachother. I have seen this proven when a stock Z28 dynoed more hp than it was rated at. The are very good reliable engines. Due to the large displacement, the LS1 responds to bolt ons very well. The simple pushrod technology has proven it self time and time again. Cam here or headers and these cars are in the mid 12s and due to its weight, the Vettes will be in the high 12's. The only beef that I have with ford is that their V8 engines are too small.
