From my experience with my car, the only thing that really needs to be tuned is internal motor stuff....in my case, a .609 lift cam. The rest of the stuff was untuned and the car adjusted for it. I'd imagine the technology in the new 3V's should be sufficient w/o a handheld. I didn't even get tuned for nitrous....and it ran a perfect a/f on the dyno.
I've been told that if you get long tube headers and ditch the cats (like I have) that the car will actually run worse by way of overcorrecting for the air/fuel ratio; it will run pig rich until you get it tuned. Is that true? Or should I not even bother with a tune?

I never got my car tuned until I got the cam installed. Made 325rwhp with no cats on the car and then 367rwhp/401rwtq on an untuned 75 dry shot. I wouldn't get a tune until you swap something out internally...or go with a big shot. I just had my a/f checked when I sprayed it.

Why does everyone have problems when they install the JLT Intake? You had a hand held, and it still went into limp mode?
the handheld only controls the timing and A/F mixture at WOT. any little change sends red flags to the computer. putting the two together, big changes at regular driving/partial throttle and no global adjustment=car in limp mode
