You would think a mustang forum would know more about the cars that kill them.

If you don't know the diffrerence between a 1993-1997 and a 1998-2002 you should be driving a Civic.

A LS1 even with an automatic will do better than mid 5's 0-60, try 5.0-5.3 seconds.

I had a 2000 Camaro SS w/M6 and a 2002 Camaro SS w/A4 both cars were fast as hell.

The 2000 had a few SLP options (exhaust, suspension, wheels) and ran a average time of 13.21 with a few mid 13's and two high 12's. This car had 316WHP in showroom trim.

The 2002 was GM SS stock and ran a average time of 13.4, due to the A4 it was much more consistant. This car had 292WHP in showroom trim.

5.0-5.3 isnt happening unless you are Evan Smith or on a DR and launch the hell out of it. But it is nice to finally see someone on here who knows whats up with the LSX cars.

My car will not go 0-60 in 5 flat. Probably not even with drag radials.

I have heard LOTS of LS1 owners, even a couple on this site, say that the "***-Dyno" feels less than impressive on those cars. Especially with the higher gears on the autos.

But we all know the "***-Dyno" is pretty unreliable.
I was very underwhelmed with my car's performance when I test drove it, it felt sluggish to me for a 300+ hp car. Still kinda does. The stopwatch, however, tells the real story.
I think that, yet again, ppl are forgetting about the chassis comparison of pre-05 mustangs vs. LT1 and LS1 F-bodies. The F-bodies had a larger wheel base and lower center of gravity. This numbs the sensation of speed in a car. The bigger the wheel base.......the less you feel the g's. This is why when I'm driving 65-70, it feels like I'm only doing about 45-50. Heh.

A guy I work with has a 93 Cobra, mostly stock, and he took a ride in my 05 GT (before the blower). He said he'd stomp my *** all over the place with his car cuz my car "felt" slow as hell. Let's just say he couldn't understand why he lost when we head to head one night not far from my house. Having driven his car afterwards.....yes, it actually "felt" faster than mine. But the speedo said otherwise.

This is why sportscars like corvettes and such feel so tame at insane speeds........low center of gravity and large wheelbase proportion to the car's size. This is also why F-bodies have an easier time running lower ET's with less power.....its all in how well the car translates that power to the road. Mustangs in recent years just have a higher center of gravity working against them when it comes to competing against the late model Camaro and Trans Am.

Just the facts fellas...

Incorrect. A mustang will out-hook an F-bod in stock trim on comparable tires BECAUSE of its weight transfer and high CoG.

They are nice, until they start leaking. They all will leak, sooner or later. My firebird's leaked, my buddy's 97s leaked, and his 98's leaked as well. Ford had it right when they ditched them off the mustangs.
i had a 91 firebird t-top for about 6 years, sold it last april and mine never leaked.

See I really don't agree Tommy, my car is on a very stock suspension and it hooks great (yes I have dr's but so do all the Stang guys I know). The 3 link, pan hard rod set up works very well IMO.

^I didn't say that, I just said that my car feels slow. Stanger88 is the one that said that Mustangs hook better.
