Nope. LT1s are somehow quicker with less power. An intake, LTs, and catback is good for 260-280rwhp which is enough to run with stock LS1s. Ick, I was also including a tune...
How do you figure that? LS1 weighs the same, has equal gearing, has a better power curve....please explain.
I know what you're thinking, I didn't believe it either. Then I started looking into the LT1 timeslip section and they were doing it.
280rwhp will get you deep in the 13s easy. 320rwhp will get you mid-12s. Beats me how it happens, but it does. The LT1 does leave hard.

hey guys, lol.
Tommy said it right. the LS1 is .8 faster then the LT1 mod for mod. Might not be exact science, but very close.
and YellowGTstang, this winter I am going for hi 12's on motor. I ran 13.0 with a few less mods 2 years ago N/A.
With the mods I have on my car, I will beat almost any stock auto LS1, but some 6 speeds will give me trouble from a roll. Now if we are talking from a dig, I dont see a stock LS1 taking me.
The LT1 isnt that bad, it is just getting outdated. The bolt on record is 11.8, that is impressive.

You'd think a ls1 f-bod would be a tad lighter with a aluminum block over the iron block

Mine was 3606 with me (200) kids maybe 90 between them and almost 3/4 tank. I would think just regular bolt ons would put an LT1 in LS1 territory. I Raced an LT1 Z not long after I got it (just had K&N filter and ram air mod at that time). It had K&N FIPK kit, borla catback and pulleys. It wasn't that pretty I let out around 70 with 3 easy on it. Maybe driver mod and the fact that mine is a stripper, who knows but I don't think It was that bad seing how both were auto.

It should easily. 8 tenths is not hard to shave off a stock car.
Gears = .3
Stall = .5
