Why will the clutch get blown?
if you're travelling at 80 in 5th and the engine is spinning at 2000 rpm? or whatever, and then you down shift to 3rd and suddenly you jump it up to 5000 rpm

3000 rpm jump like that will create heat as the clutch grabs and the motor is forced into revving at a higher revolution. Bascially you create tons of friction.

friction = heat = not good.

it won't unless your really rough with it. I would be more worried about over reving when you do not know how many RPMS you will catch yourself in when you downshift. IE, if your in 5 th going 3,000 RPMS and dump it into second. your screwed ause you just hit a good 7,000 RPMS thats usualy when things go BANG

You just got to get use to it. I've had my stick for about 2 months and I'm still getting use to it. Play around with it for a little while and you'll get a feel for what gear you can safely downshift to.
