Why will the clutch get blown?

3000 rpm jump like that will create heat as the clutch grabs and the motor is forced into revving at a higher revolution. Bascially you create tons of friction.
friction = heat = not good.
it won't unless your really rough with it. I would be more worried about over reving when you do not know how many RPMS you will catch yourself in when you downshift. IE, if your in 5 th going 3,000 RPMS and dump it into second. your screwed ause you just hit a good 7,000 RPMS
thats usualy when things go BANG

You just got to get use to it. I've had my stick for about 2 months and I'm still getting use to it. Play around with it for a little while and you'll get a feel for what gear you can safely downshift to.
