Please don't use paint thinner on it. Paint thinners, and especially lacquer thinner, will eat through the vinyl just as quickly as they'll eat through the paint. The WD-40 idea is definitely worth a try.

I used WD-40 on a car I had fora week, deep green and my daughter was chasing a bee with white spray paint and you guessed it she sprayed my car. Used WD-40 and it came off and did not damage the paint. The other thing that seems to be the miracle cleaner is the Mr Clean Erase. That seems to take everthing off.

hate bring up bad news but most anything that is going to clean off paint that is part of a 2k product line, is going to dryout the top or bleed the color. you could try some goo gone. and a tooth brush, but i dont think it would do much. we got overspray on a M3 vert at the shop one time and just had to replace the top. that was a bad time , no bonus for the shop that quarter.

Use a body solvent such as Acryl-Sol. Its not a HOT solvent. Body shops use it for post sand/pre-paint wipedown. Not sure if paint shops carry it. I have used it on all surfaces with no detrimental effects.

Since what you need is some way to gently "scrape" away this overspray, A toothbrush and a little toothpaste just may do the trick. Another product thatmay work is "Soft Scrub" bathroom cleaner. Good luck cleaning this up.

Hey guys, thanks for all of the replies... I ended up taking it to a detailer and he in fact did use lacquer thinner and a q-tip which he patiently dabbed on every tiny spot. He said he's tried a lot of stuff on the newer tops and he hasn't had any trouble using the thinner sparingly. He did a complete cleaning immediately afterwards and said I shouldn't see any effects from it, but his work is warranteed if any damage appears from it for 6 months. The guy who painted it said he'd still take care of the detailing costs and would take care of the replacement if anything happens during the next year. Looks good for now, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
