How to get more torque?
#34
Speaking from experience here..... If you want torque, the single most significant improvement is new gears with T-Loc. I went with the following overall setup:
- FRPP 4.10 gears with T-Loc
- CAI with 93 Octane Performance Tune
- Dual Exhaust (true dual, not with the stock Y-Pipe, get rid of that)
Again, gears, gears, gears...... Going from 3.31 gears to 4.10s made my Mustang a completely different car. You won't really lose much in gas mileage either. Around town, if you do a lot of city driving, you will actually gain mpg because it takes less gas pedal to get your car moving. Your RPMs will be higher at highway speeds, which means SLIGHTLY less mpg. I get about 0.5 less mpg on the highway than I did with my stock gears.
DO NOT get a throttle body spacer. Waste of money.
Hope that helps!
