Push button start
Wow I would be cool if I had a push button start, did not know that. This feature is just another in a long list of items to make use lazy and or dumb. I have no problem twisting a key but hey.
Technology has its places, but this isn't one of them. A more complex way of doing something that's really simple to begin with is a step backward. Keep it simple. Not race car simple (toggle switch ignition + start switch), just simple with a modicum of security.
BTW, "ignition system" isn't the same as "starting system".

just my two cents.
agreed. something more complex = more things to possibly and probably go wrong! its not that big of a hassle to put the key in and turn then go. and like the OP said about having a hand full of groceries, you have to take your keys out to open the trunk to put the groceries away so then you will already have your key out. I agree with some of the other posts that if you get it, and after awhile the "cool" factor of it will wear off like the ambient lighting or MyColor.

For all the haters saying it's just lazy, or uneccesary, you're entitled to your opinion. But just try it out...it really is awesome. It comes in handy ALOT. It's one of those things that you'd never think you need, but then when you don't have it you're like, "DOH".
Nothing "awesome" about it, never mind that the word "awesome" itself has been over-used to the point where it no longer has meaning.
Pointless, if you must first turn a key to enable ignition and fuel delivery.
Worse than pointless if you don't have to take the key out of your pocket. Making cars more like video games is not the right answer. I'll bet that the relatives of the CHP in that runaway Lexus with pushbutton start wish it had never been introduced in that model, if they've thought about the loss of "instant-engine-off" capability much.
Even a fob is somewhat gimmicky - but since it removes the risk of scratching your own paint with the key (in the dark or if you've got your hands full) it does provide some real benefit. I do consistently use mine on the three cars that have this. But I don't miss not having it on the others. Not at all.
I really do think that when you sit yourself down behind the wheel that you need to reset your frame of mind. Get your thinking aligned with operating a pretty serious piece of machinery rather than that collection of of multimedia entertainment equipment in your living room. Making the way to start it the same as turning on a TV or a computer does not send the right subconscious message. Think of having to turn a key to the 'start' position and letting it drop back to the 'run' position when it catches as being your "CTRL-ALT-DEL" to a different mental operating system.

Well im sure there are some of you that feel that having a stereo in the car is a useless option, im just saying that it would be a nice option for those that would like, and judging by the responses, that would be the majority of the people.
The discussions in this thread apply to many features on almost any modern car. You can substitute things like; backup camera, nav, In-Sync, glass roof..etc for keyless ignition. Heck, power window and door locks probably had a similar thread in their day.
We bought our Mustangs for all the OTHER reasons people buy Mustangs, performance, looks and the fun of owning an icon.
Everything else is frosting on the cake.
But boy, do I like frosting!

What a majority of the respondents (especially in a survey as small as this one) might think makes a neat, "tech-y" option still isn't enough to make it a good option in the overall view, though. There's a difference.
