drain out below the top hose be careful with the twist off spout they can break if you don't know what your doing, when you take off the thermo, antifreeze will slowly dribble out of the manifold put cloths around before you do and also so get the new one in asap and make sure it is in the right spot when you put it back in so the coolant hits it right (open spot parallel with the hose. Tighten back up to 17-19 ft/lbs..add coolant until at the cold mark..Dan
