Evolution debate ongoing.
Daniel, I know. For some time there I was recommending Brenspeed to everyone, and although Evolution kind of changed my way... I still think Brenspeed is awesome.
Though in all honesty, I think you'd be surprised how much more you had, if you went with an Evo tune. I haven't really tested her due to the crappy weather, but I can feel the difference.
In all it's up to the buyer which tuner they want to go with. Though now I have had my eyes opened up... You can't beat Evolution's prices, nor performance. Fred's an awesome guy as well, and Me and Dkano spent pretty much all afternoon hanging out with him as we were the only ones at the shop. All in all it was good fun, and I'm sure we can't wait to test the new power.

Yeah, for me the reason that made me give Fred a try was the fact that he owns an automatic GT (which is what I have) so he knows my car and what settings to play with. Like I said before, the first time we went to his shop we went on a little test drive on his car and it just felt completly different than mine, shifted completely different too. We're not saying that Brenspeed is not good, I bought most of my parts from them (including the UDPs and LCAs), he's giving you a good tune without having your car at this shop, so if you're happy with it, then that's all that matters. We're just happy to see the gains that we got from our visit to Fred's shop, and the service we got when we were there.

It's actually really simple, if you have a 3V and your running too lean and too much timing, the knock sensors will kick in and start pulling timing, which in return will lose power, ie "The Other" Tune!
The 3V motor actually likes to run a little on the rich side! The two main ingredients to making power is Fuel and Timing!
In these tunes I have also made significant power increases with adjustments in the VCT (variable cam timing) which a lot of tuners don't know how to use those parameters yet!

That is a huge margin for just a tune. No offense, but I have to see hard data to believe it.

I'm glad to see that people who don't have a custom tuner in their area are still able to get a very good tune.
So my questions are: does Fred stand by his work if u have a problem with ur motor that voids ur warranty due to the "intake tuner combo"-we all know how ford has been with their warranties lately..
if you are going to get your car serviced..i.e. oil change should you take the intake out or reflash and drive around with the stock tune like i have heard?
Competition is great...it is good for both business' and it is good for consumers because it lowers prices
so all of you guys out there that are kind of cringing at this thread...dont... I am sure there are pros and cons to either sides and all it leads down to is preference

Good Questions +1

+1 - he is not blowing smoke here guys. Fuel + Timing + VCT = all the difference in the world. Based on reading through this thread, I think he is actually also staying on the conservative side for you guys as the 3V does like it rich. The average RWHP gain with custom tunes only at spankintime are 35-70 rwhp increase with adam's custom tunes. Usually, the fact the custom tune is aggressive with the VCT is a key factor to how adam gets so much more power out of the cars. Most 'canned' tunes don't mess with the VCT so the fact Fred is mentioning that confirms his tunes are a little ahead of all the other canned tunes out there. Great job, Fred. I am impressed and wish you luck.

Fred can you provide us with A/F readings for your tune at all RPM levels?
Fred showed us the graphs and such involved with the actual software... Like I said we were there for like 7+ hours so we got complete undevoted attention from Fred and he was showing all kinds of neat things. I believe on one of those graphs he was showing us what makes his tune so good, and i'm not sure... but I think he keeps a consistant 12.8 AFR.
I have an auto. Can I just buy this tune or do I have to go there and have it done custom. Is going there an advantage, besides being fun?
As better ways of tuning come out are free upgrades there or available to purchase.
His site has no contact except phone # and new site coming soon has been there a long time..

You can just buy the tune for $150, that is if you have an XCal II Tuner already and the CAI. If you don't you can buy a package from him for cheaper than anyone else with the BEST performance than any other tuner has provided in a canned tune. No you don't have to go there to get the tune. Call him, he's not going to bite you. Okay maybe he will.
