yeah, Ford did all kind of crazy stuff. lol. Well there really is no difference in a 289 block and 302 block. If it's a 289 though it will have a 289 crank.

 

back on the cooling subject, OP mentioned the car had been sitting awhile?

if so, consider adding a radiator filter to your top hose. I use a Tefba, but there are other brands out there. they are a must if you add a new radiator to an old car.

 

good idea aussie, goning to keep the radiator thats there for now,
new fan and shroud should be in this week. and that should take care
of my overheating issues.

just a quick update, i put a larger square blade flex a lite fan in, replacing the old smaller wedge shape fan, referring to the size/shape of the fan blades themselves, and BAM engine runs 10 degrees cooler simply form the increased
air flow and pull from the rad ! new shroud should be in this week or maybe next week and that should finish off my cooling system issues. i always make sure to keep a good eye on the coolant levels and temp gauge.
